Hurdles of a Red Ocean Platform
Kim (2005) writes of four organizational hurdles in a Red Ocean platform. The hurdles are cognitive, resource, motivational, and political. The cognitive hurdle is about an understanding through communication being achieved. Management must clearly and concisely communicate to its staff and employees. Why does fair process matter in a Blue Ocean platform?
Decrease cost; increase buyer value, this leads to value innovation. Fair process allows for this to occur. Kim (2005) states accurately, that most companies strategic plans keep them wedded to their Red Ocean strategy. “Executives are paralyzed by the muddle. Few employees deep down in the company even know what the strategy is.
